Quantitative

Throughout my career I have tackled quantitative analysis in many ways across topics, and organizations. Having had the opportunity to hone skills intensively one opportunity at a time provides me with a cumulative expertise that can bring value to your organization.

Skills

The Cost of Documentation (2023)

Grouped Barplot

As part of my work at Neurodivergent Upgrade, I collected data to assess the cost of producing medical documentation to access disability accommodations in students at McGill with cognitive difficulties.

Components

  • Identify central question
  • Collect and process data
  • Disseminate results

Outcomes

  1. Uncovered a notable gap in support for individuals with disabilities and collaborating with university stakeholders to address this issue
  2. Provided evidence of a gender-biased premium on healthcare access to inform next steps

Immigrant Wages (2021)

Completed a replication paper in R Studio as part of an undergraduate thesis. The project included exposure to Calcul Quebec’s supercomputing resources.

Separation of Powers (2021)

As part of my course Introduction to Quantitative Political Science myself and a group of three additional classmates completed a project to get a deeper understanding of why certain countries have higher rates of extrajudicial killings than others.

OLS Coefficient Estimates

Project Components

  • Create a testable research hypothesis based in prior literature
  • Conduct a formal literature review
  • Gather relevant dataset test hypothesis using quantitative modelling techniques

Outcomes

  1. Presented our project alongside a professional project poster we produced in LaTeX
  2. Wrote a formal report summarizing our findings
  3. Demonstrated that states with established independent judicial systems are associated with lower rates of extrajudicial killings

Housing Issues (2020)

In collaboration with Harvard University and a local nonprofit The Harvard Square Neighborhood Association (HSNA), we took a holistic look at the scarcity of housing in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Despite being a relatively politically homogeneous and highly educated city, the housing issue had become one of the most divisive issues the city had encountered in decades.

Our insights would then be used to contribute relevant findings in order to improve the quality of the town-wide discussion.

Project Components

  • Interview local stakeholders and gather meaningful quantitative and qualitative insight
  • Develop a well-rounded perspective of the housing issue and how it affects various stakeholders and demographics
  • Source, process, and present data required to answer questions of interest with little to no direction
  • Bring attention to risks and opportunities in the existing debate

Ordinal Barplot

Outcomes

  1. Produced a report summarizing our findings
  2. Discovered key risks in development policies, saving the town millions of dollars
  3. Clarified gaps in tax policy interpretations which undermined the quality of the local debate
  4. Uncovered and falsified disinformation influencing the local debate

Gender Gaps in AP Courses (2017)

  • Designed a census study, formally proposed, collected, and analyzed data on possible enrolment gender gaps between AP courses for History, Foreign Language, Math, and Science in collaboration with peers.
  • Produced a formal project proposal and communicated findings using Excel and Word.

Survey Wording Bias (2017)

  • Designed a randomized observational study, formally proposed, collected, and analyzed data on wording bias in survey collection in collaboration with peers.
  • Produced a formal project proposal and communicated findings using Excel and Word.

How Competitive Are They? (2017)

  • Designed a matched pairs study, formally proposed, collected, and analyzed data on perception of social competition.
  • Produced a formal project proposal and communicated findings using Excel and Word.
